Dr. Abbington will describe the enlightening etymology behind many songs, both old and new. Attendees will gain a new appreciation of the cultural and historical context of many pieces and learn how these pieces relate to the church today.

Dr. James Abbington, Clinician

Dr. James Abbington has been with GIA for over twelve years as the Executive Editor of the African American Church Music Series. He has also authored many successful books including Let Mt. Zion Rejoice and Let the Church Sing On. He brings his passion, energy, and skill to make this a memorable and inspiring event for all. He also serves as Associate Professor of Church Music and Worship at Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta.
