Unrecorded, unremembered
And gone before He arrived
Was it enough for the waiting room?
Was it enough to be a thread?
A soldier in England after Rome’s fall
On the surface, rough and violent
But did grace shine at the end?
Did it save him from separation?
Was it enough to make a thread?
A servant in New Spain knows her failures
Hides in the back every Sunday
And keeps praying to improve
Did that leave her in the gray fire?
Was it enough to make a thread?
A nun in Nairobi long time from now
Gave up her life to follow Him
Spent her time heroically
How could she not go straight to the Light?
How could she fail to be a thread?
The ones who came before and those ahead
Part of a cloth woven through time
We can’t understand it now
We can’t see how it will all turn out
Until the day the weaving’s done
