While Dark And Gloomy Nights
October 16, 2026 - 10:31am — ronsue
1 )While dark and gloomy night conceals
the colors of all things on earth,
we praise you in the night with songs
And for that eternal day we long
2 ) weed out our hidden faults and sins
So daily our life in you anew begins
bestow, O Christ, your grace on us,
That we may share your divine life of love.
REFRAIN
Grant us your favor and your help
let not the evil of this world
Slowly weaken and overcome our faith
As in deepest longing for you we wait
3 )Let charity, unfeigned and true
preserve the pledge and bonds of peace;
may chastity be pure and strong
upheld by firm and lasting trust
4 )Drive the darkened cloud that dulls our time
That leads many to anxious idolatry
that we may find true peace and joy,
established in your blessed light
REFRAIN
5 )O Author of eternal praise,
who give to all who live by faith
the Spirit of your sevenfold grace,
with kindness come to help us all
6) Create in us a tranquil mind
with truth and love crown our work,
Receive our prayers that rise to you,
and grant us everlasting life.
REFRAIN
