I have added two pieces that look back at people who left a lasting mark on the history of St. Mary’s Parish in Akron, Ohio.

The Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary - For decades, the Sisters of the IHM served the children and families of St. Mary’s School. This feature remembers six of these remarkable women and the different gifts they brought to our parish community.

Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen - Long before his famous television career—and continuing into his later years—Archbishop Sheen had a remarkable connection with Akron. His relationship with St. Mary’s culminated in his extraordinary twelve-talk visit in November 1973.

These are more than stories from the past. They are part of the inheritance of a Catholic community—and worth remembering.
