Holy Spirit, Gentle Dove - Steven Curtis Lance
SAB and piano or organ with text by the composer: A tender and moving prayer to the Holy Spirit. Also a beautiful anthem for ordinations and baptisms (Easter Vigil!)

I Will Not Leave You Comfortless - William Byrd
SATB Choir a cappella or lightly accompanied. Dating from 1607, I will not leave you comfortless (Nos vos relinquam orphanos) is a delicious anthem - two minutes of Renaissance bliss - employing wonderful imitation between the voices as well as having interior and terminal Alleluias. Originally for five voices, (AATTB), this is an arrangement for SATB retaining the all harmonic complexity and beauty of the original. Your choir will love this! Text from John 14. Perfect for Pentecost, but great anytime.

Remember, as a subscriber to SJMP, of course you can download these and everything else on the site anytime, anywhere. Once you're a member of St. James Music Press, everything on the site is yours! Download it, copy it. pass it out to the choir, and...

A Canon of Praise - W.A. Mozart

Canon - 4 in 2 (SATB or 4-part choir). Simple and effective, with bright and cheerful Mozartean eloquence. One of those that sounds much harder than it is and perfect for your Summer or Spring Break Choir. Text from Psalm 100, "Make a joyful noise to God..."

For the Bread Which You Have Broken - César Franck

SAB and organ or piano. A Eucharistic text set in the high-romantic idiom of Franck. Gentle and comforting and just great as an anthem during communion.

Come, O Spirit, Come by Paul F. Page

Paul F. Page

Come, O Spirit, Come was composed by Paul F. Page (pictured at left). Visit Paul's awesome music site: www.paulpage.org.

Paul sent these comments to me with the piece:

"For our Easter Vigil this year we’re singing the attached Taize-like ostinato meditation during the confirmations (solo, choir/assembly). It’s easy, short, and prayerful."

Download the sheet music and an MP3 audio demo using the links at end of story. Paul plays piano and sings the two demos—one models solo voice and the other is a more richly layered version with two voices. Use your creativity when presenting this song at church liturgies and devotions!

My Light. My Salvation. (based on Psalm 34) was composed by Paul F. Page (pictured at left). Visit Paul's awesome music site: www.paulpage.org.

Although written for SAB choir, it can be presented entirely with solo voice. Another possibility is to have the assembly sing the refrain with a soloist doing the verses. It’s decidedly not a guitar-accompaniment number.
