Responsorial Psalm 21(22):8-9,17-20,23-24 for Palm Sunday
My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
All who see me deride me.
They curl their lips, they toss their heads.
‘He trusted in the Lord, let him save him;
let him release him if this is his friend.’
My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
This hymn was written and composed by a Catholic priest during his days as a chaplain for The Tombs, a colloquial name given to New York’s famous city jail in Lower Manhattan. His Eminence Cardinal Hayes and Bishop Dunn of New York and many other church dignitaries paid special tribute to the hymn hailing it as the most effective closing hymn for evening services ever written.Responsorial Psalm 125(126) for the 5th Sunday in Lent Year C
What marvels the Lord worked for us! Indeed we were glad.
When the Lord delivered Zion from bondage,
it seemed like a dream.
Then was our mouth filled with laughter,
on our lips there were songs.
What marvels the Lord worked for us! Indeed we were glad.

Taste and see that the Lord is good.
I will bless the Lord at all times,
His praise always on my lips;
in the Lord my soul shall make its boast.
The humble shall hear and be glad.
Taste and see that the Lord is good.
Glorify the Lord with me.

If I dwell at the sea’s furthest end, even there You watch over me.
O Lord, You search me and You know me,
You know my resting and my rising,
You discern my purpose from afar.
You mark when I walk or lie down,
all my ways lie open to You.

whom shall I fear?

Be with me, O Lord, in my distress.
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High

says to the Lord: ‘My refuge,
my stronghold, my God in whom I trust!’
Be with me, O Lord, in my distress.
